Why do blacks and whites think so differently about money and fame?

I was just watching CMT awards and Zach Brown Band was performing. When they hit the line "no we don't have a lot of money, no we don't have a lot of money" the crowd was going wild. I thought immediately of rappers getting this response when they sing about bling, rims, houses, etc. Why do so many black folks like music that is so far from their own reality? Houses they will never have, cars, etc are all thrown in their face and they love it. Why?
