oysters are sea animals which live under the sea.they make pearls but nothing good for them.pearl divers go into the sea to take oysters and find pearls.pearl divers have been lesser because of japanese cultured pearls but also they were prone to diseases.be careful of my spelling mistakes!

Inside every pearl, you will find a grain of sand. The sand was an irritant to the oyster, a freshwater and saltwater mollusk related to clams. (And, yes, clams can produce pearls as well.) To remove the irritation, the oyster forms a covering over it from the same material it uses to create its own shell. The resulting covering continues to grow as the oyster produces more and more coatings over it. The result is known as a pearl. Shell from the oyster is most often referred to as "mother of pearl". Modern day oyster farmers have found ways to stimulate the oyster into producing more pearls than they would normally in the wild. Because these are artificially induced, they are referred to as "cultured" pearls. Pearls come in all sizes and many colors. Before being strung or made into jewelry, they are graded by color and size. The larger the size, and the brighter the color most often determines the value of the pearl.
