Diamond engagement ring cleaning...how often?

how often do you ladies bring your diamond engagement ring to a jeweller to get cleaned?

the last time i went, the jeweller told me i could bring it in every day if i wanted to, but obviously he was kidding. still, it looks so pretty when it's all sparkly and shiny...

more seriously, he told me every 2 months or so would probably be good, but i'm just wondering how often the average person goes.

for those offering at home cleaning advice, i just thought i should mention that my jeweler advised me against cleaning it at home and said that if i absolutely MUST to let it soak in some warm water and original Mr. Clean for a few minutes and then to rinse thoroughly. he said not to use a toothbrush or Windex (in case some people do this).
he is not just saying this to get me to come in and get it cleaned by him, because he does this for free and would not profit from it.

Your jeweler is correct. You may get your ring cleaned every day with the sonic cleaning machine at the jewelry store, without it damaging your stone, setting, or ring in any way.

Is this practical? Not unless you have an abundance of time on your hands. But rest assured you can get it cleaned as often as your little heart desires, without fear of any damage.

Some people on Y!A advise against frequent professional cleanings, but I actually asked my jeweler and this is exactly what he said.

Personally, I get mine cleaned about once a month. Basically, whenever I'm in the vicinity of the jewelry store, I pop in and get in cleaned. Takes about 1 minute, and then I walk out with the ring that sparkles like new.
