Diamond or Moissanite? Can you tell the difference?

The Brilliance of Moissanite
There is a universal sign for love in this country, as well as many others. The diamond spans across the globe as being something that shows affection and love much like the rose. Of course, diamonds are much more involved, as well as much higher in price than a simple rose. Because of advancements in science we have been able to replicate stones that are similar to the diamond such as moissanite. These stones have opened up the doors to many people who would not have had the resources to purchase a dazzling ring for the ones that they love. Though it may lack some of the qualities of the diamond it is similar enough to fool almost any eye.
In 1893 a man by the name of Henri Moissan discovered silican carbide inside of a meteorite in Arizona. This was the original moissanite being named after its discoverer. Obviously the mineral was limited in quantity and was not able to be used for mass production but in 1995 it was discovered that this could be made synthetically. It was a huge bonus that it could be cut in a way to resemble the color, purity and sparkle of the diamond. Moissanite also compares to many other fine jewels when compared to brilliance and to hardness making it above and beyond all other synthetic choices.
Diamonds have a very specific grading process in order to rate for price and value. Moissanite is not graded in the same way because of the fact that there are none that are visibly imperfect. This is because of the fact that they are not a natural resource and are lab created. This makes the moissanite a very appealing buy since they are one tenth the price of a diamond in most cases.
All in all, anyone shopping for a jewel for a ring, or any other jewelry may be missing out if moissanite is not given any attention. It is a brilliant jewel that is nearly as hard as the diamond, always as clean as a very high clarity stone and simply cannot be beaten for the price. Diamonds still hold their place in value but moissanite definitely should be given the attention that it deserves. Our preference for the best alternative to diamonds? Moissanite. A fine jewelry stone which will make a stunning engagement ring, or other jewelry piece. And you can buy moissanite wedding jewelry at a fraction of the price of diamond wedding jewelry.
